Lautner, Taylor

Lautner, Taylor (1992-…), is an American motion-picture actor and martial artist. Martial arts is a general term for karate and other fighting arts (see Martial arts ). Lautner is best known for his portrayal of the teenage werewolf Jacob Black in the Twilight motion pictures. The films were based on a popular series of young adult novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. The films include Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn—Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn—Part 2 (2012).

Taylor Daniel Lautner was born Feb. 11, 1992, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began studying karate at age 6. He became a martial arts world champion as a child.

Lautner began auditioning for commercials at age 7. A few years later, his family moved to Los Angeles so that he could pursue a professional acting career. He made his motion-picture acting debut in Shadow Fury (2001). In 2005, he appeared in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D and Cheaper by the Dozen 2. His other films include Valentine’s Day (2010) and Abduction (2011).

Lautner has appeared on several television shows. He had a recurring role in the TV action series “My Own Worst Enemy” (2008). He has also provided the voice for characters on a number of TV shows. He was the voice of a bully in the animated television movie He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown (2006).
