Sanchez, Mark

Sanchez, Mark (1986-…), was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). A quarterback leads a football team’s offense (see Football (The offensive team); Football (Advancing the ball)). The New York Jets drafted Sanchez as the fifth selection in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft. The draft is the process in which NFL teams choose players, usually amateurs from college programs. Sanchez became the Jets’ starting quarterback in his first season. The team released him in 2014. Several days after his release, Sanchez signed to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia traded Sanchez to the Denver Broncos in 2016. Denver released him later that year, and he quickly signed with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2017, Sanchez signed with the Chicago Bears, but he did not appear in any games. Sanchez played in two games for the Washington Redskins (now called the Washington Commanders) in 2018.

Mark Travis John Sanchez was born on Nov. 11, 1986, in Long Beach, California. He was the highest ranked high school quarterback in the country while playing for Mission Viejo High School. Sanchez graduated from high school in 2005. He enrolled later that year at the University of Southern California (USC). Sanchez played his final season at USC in 2008 and then chose to leave USC with a year of college eligibility remaining to enter the NFL draft. He completed work for a B.A. degree in communications in 2009. In 2019, Sanchez retired from football. That same year, he joined the ESPN cable network as a football analyst.
