Clarkson, Kelly (1982-…), is a popular American singer and songwriter. She gained fame in 2002 as the first winner of the singing competition television show “American Idol.” Clarkson has had a number of hit songs and albums worldwide. She has also won a number of Grammy Awards for her music.
Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas. She began singing as a child and sang in her junior high school choir. After winning on “American Idol,” Clarkson was signed to a recording contract. Her first singles, “A Moment Like This” and “Before Your Love” (both 2002), became number-one hits in the United States. Her debut album, Thankful (2003), and its single, “Miss Independent,” both became international hits.
Clarkson’s second album, Breakaway (2004), was also a worldwide hit. Her other albums include My December (2007), All I Ever Wanted (2009), Stronger (2011), Wrapped in Red (2013), Piece by Piece (2015), and Meaning of Life (2017). Her other hit songs include “Since U Been Gone” (2004); “Never Again” (2007); “My Life Would Suck Without You” (2009); “Don’t You Wanna Stay” (2010), a duet with American country singer Jason Aldean ; “Mr. Know It All” (2011); and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Catch My Breath” (both 2012).
Clarkson acted in the romantic musical From Justin to Kelly (2003). She has also appeared on a number of television series, and as a judge and adviser on singing competition television shows. In 2019, she began hosting the daytime talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
