Bryan, Luke

Bryan, Luke (1976-…), is a popular American country music singer, songwriter, and musician. He is known for his good looks and his songs about country life and having a good time. Bryan has recorded several number-one country hits, and he has won a number of awards for his music.

Thomas Luther Bryan was born on July 17, 1976, in Leesburg, Georgia. He later chose Luke, a shortened version of his middle name, as his stage name. Bryan began singing as a child and began playing guitar at age 14. The following year, he began performing with local bands at a club that featured live country music. He began writing songs at age 16. Bryan graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Bryan moved to Nashville in 2001 to pursue a career in country music. Nashville is the center of the country music industry. He soon began working as a songwriter and later received a recording contract. Bryan’s debut single, “All My Friends Say,” was released in 2007 and became a country hit. He co-wrote the song. It was included on his first studio album, I’ll Stay Me (2007). Two of the album’s other songs, “Country Man” and “We Rode in Trucks,” also became country hits.

In 2009, Bryan released the EP Spring Break with All My Friends. EP stands for extended play, a type of musical recording that includes several songs but is not considered a full-length album. The EP became especially popular on college campuses. It was followed by several other successful Spring Break EP’s. Bryan’s single “Do I” (featuring Hillary Scott) was also released in 2009, and became a hit. It was included on Bryan’s second studio album, Doin’ My Thing (2009). The album also featured the number-one hits “Rain Is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby.”

Bryan’s third studio album, Tailgates & Tanlines, was released in 2011. It became a number-one country album. It featured the hits “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” “Drunk on You,” and “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye.” Bryan’s fourth studio album, Crash My Party (2013), became a number-one country and crossover hit. It featured the hits “Crash My Party,” “That’s My Kind of Night,” and “Drink a Beer.”

In 2018, Bryan became a judge on the singing-competition television show “American Idol.”
