Peralta, Oribe

Peralta, Oribe (1984-…), was a Mexican professional soccer player. Soccer is called football in much of the world. From 2004 to 2022, Peralta played for many teams in Mexico’s top soccer league. He was also a key part of the Mexican national team, called el Tri (the Tricolor). Peralta was known by the nickname “El Cepillo” (The Brush). He was an outstanding striker. Oribe Peralta Morones was born on Jan. 12, 1984, in Torreón, Coahuila. He began playing soccer in his youth. Peralta began his professional career in 2003 with CA Monarcas Morelia in Michoacán. CA stands for club atlético (athletic club). Peralta later played for Club de Fútbol Monterrey his hometown Club Santo Lagunas; Chiapas F.C. (Fútbol Club); Mexico City‘s Club América; and Club Deportivo (Sports Club) Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas.

In 2012, Peralta scored both of his team’s goals in Mexico’s 2-1 victory over Brazil in the gold medal match at the Olympic Games. In 2013, Peralta was named the CONCACAF player of the year. CONCACAF stands for Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football.

Peralta played for Mexico in the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil. FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association (International Federation of Association Football). FIFA is soccer’s world governing body. He again represented Mexico, at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, before retiring from the national team. Peralta retired from playing soccer in 2022.
