Stone, Curtis

Stone, Curtis (1975-…), is an Australian chef and television personality. Stone hosts a number of popular cooking shows, including “Top Chef Masters” and “Around the World in 80 Plates.” He is the author of several cookbooks. Stone also developed a line of cookware called Kitchen Solutions. As a chef, Stone favors dishes that feature fresh, local ingredients.

Stone was born on Nov. 4, 1975, in Melbourne , Australia . He learned to cook from his mother and grandmother. After briefly attending Victoria University, Stone began working as a cook at a luxurious Melbourne hotel. He later moved to London, where he gained valuable experience working at famous restaurants .

The Australian television show “Surfing the Menu,” beginning in 2003, launched Stone’s television career. The show featured Stone and another chef, Ben O’Donoghue, as they sampled local cuisine along Australia’s coast. In 2006, Stone starred in the American show “Take Home Chef.” Stone’s participation in the game show “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2011 further increased his television fame.

Stone’s cooking style typically features relatively simple preparations of high-quality ingredients. Many of his recipes make use of seasonal produce. Stone promotes home cooking and using locally grown ingredients. In 2014, Stone opened a restaurant in Beverly Hills , California. It is called Maude, after Stone’s grandmother.
