Gardner, Cory (1974-…) was a member of the United States Senate from 2015 to 2021. Gardner, a Republican , represented Colorado . Prior to his election to the Senate , Gardner had served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives .
Cory Scott Gardner was born in Yuma, Colorado, on Aug. 22, 1974. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in 1997. In 2001, Gardner received a law degree from the University of Colorado. He then worked in Washington, D.C., as a spokesman for the National Corn Growers Association. At various times, Gardner also worked for his family’s farm implement dealership. From 2002 to 2005, he served on the staff of U.S. Senator Wayne Allard . In June 2005, Gardner was appointed to fill a vacancy in the state House of Representatives. He won election to a full two-year term in the state House in 2006 and was reelected in 2008.
In 2010, Gardner won election to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was reelected in 2012. As a congressman, Gardner served on the House Energy and Commerce committees. In 2014, Gardner defeated incumbent Democratic Senator Mark Udall for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Gardner lost a bid for reelection in 2020 to Democrat John Hickenlooper, a former governor.
