McGrath, Glenn (1970-…), an Australian cricket star, ranks among the greatest bowlers in the history of the sport. A bowler is the player who delivers the ball. McGrath held the world record of 563 Test wickets by a fast bowler until it was broken by the English cricketer James Anderson in 2018. Test matches and One Day International (ODI) matches are the highest level of competition in international cricket. McGrath still holds the record for the most wickets in the Cricket World Cup. During the first Test in the 2005 Ashes series, McGrath became the fourth bowler in history to take 500 Test wickets.
McGrath made his Test debut on Nov. 12, 1993, against New Zealand. His final Test came in January 2007 against England. He played his first and last ODI matches the same years.
Glenn Donald McGrath was born on Feb. 9, 1970, in Dubbo, in the Australian state of New South Wales. He grew up in Narromine, New South Wales, where he first played cricket. In domestic competition, McGrath played for New South Wales from 1992 to 2008. He also played county cricket in England in 2000 for Worcestershire and in 2004 for Middlesex. He ended his career in 2010 in India with the Delhi Daredevils.
