Rampone, Christie (1975-…), is a former American women’s soccer star. In international competition, she played on the United States teams that won the 1999 and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments. FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association (International Federation of Association Football). FIFA is soccer’s world governing body. Rampone also played on four U.S. Olympic teams, earning a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games and gold at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 games. Christie Patricia Pearce was born on June 24, 1975, in Fort Lauderdale , Florida , and grew up in Point Pleasant, New Jersey . She married Chris Rampone, a sales representative, in 2001. In high school, Christie played four sports—soccer, basketball , track and field , and field hockey . She attended Monmouth University from 1993 to 1997. She starred in basketball and soccer and also played lacrosse . She eventually decided to concentrate on soccer. As a senior, she set school records for goals, assists, and points scored in a season. She graduated from Monmouth with a bachelor’s degree in special education.
Rampone played in the amateur W-League in 1997 and 1998. Starting in 2001, she played in two professional leagues that eventually disbanded, the Women’s United Soccer Association from 2001 to 2003 and Women’s Professional Soccer from 2009 to 2011. Rampone entered the newly founded National Women’s Soccer League in 2013, playing for the Sky Blue FC, which plays in Piscataway, New Jersey. Rampone resumed using her maiden name, Pearce, in 2017 after her marriage ended in divorce. She retired from soccer the same year.
