Rose, Justin

Rose, Justin (1980-…), is a British professional golfer. In 2013, Rose won the U.S. Open, his first victory in a “major” tournament. In men’s professional golf, the majors consist of the Masters Tournament, the United States PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) Championship, the U.S. Open, and the British Open. Rose was the first English golfer to win the U.S. Open since 1970, and the first British golfer to win any major tournament since 1996. Rose also won the gold medal in men’s golf at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rose was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 30, 1980. He moved to England at the age of five with his family. Rose began playing golf as a child and competed in international tournaments as a teenager. He gained widespread attention in 1998 when he tied for fourth place in the British Open at the age of 17. He turned professional the day after that tournament ended.

Rose struggled in his early years as a professional. However, in 2018, he achieved the number one world ranking for a male professional golfer for the first time.
