Wilson, Russell

Wilson, Russell (1988-…), is a star quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). From 2012 to 2022, Wilson played for the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson led the Seahawks to Super Bowl appearances in 2014 and 2015. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2014.

Wilson stands 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 meters) tall, which is much shorter than the typical NFL quarterback. He uses his quickness to elude tacklers while passing or running. During his first three seasons in the NFL, Wilson won a total of 42 games, more than any other quarterback in league history.

Russell Carrington Wilson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Nov. 29, 1988, and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. He was a star quarterback in high school in Richmond. Wilson enrolled at North Carolina State University in 2007 and played for the team for three seasons, from 2008 to 2010. He then transferred to the University of Wisconsin. He led Wisconsin to the Big Ten Conference championship in 2011 and an appearance in the Rose Bowl.

Seattle selected Wilson in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He was named the starting quarterback for the first game of the season. Wilson threw 26 touchdown passes that season, tying Peyton Manning for the rookie record. In 2022, the Seahawks traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos. In 2024, the Broncos released Wilson, and he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
