Philadelphia Union

Philadelphia Union is a professional soccer team in the United States. Soccer is called football in much of the world. The team competes in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top soccer league in the United States and Canada. The team is also called the U. It plays its home games at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Union joined MLS in 2010. The team has enjoyed some success. The Union made its first MLS Cup Playoffs appearance in 2011, but it lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals. In 2014, 2015, and 2018, Philadelphia advanced to the finals in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, an annual tournament open to amateur and professional soccer clubs. In 2020, the Union won the Supporters’ Shield as the MLS team with the best regular season record.

Philadelphia has twice qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League. CONCACAF stands for Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football, and the league is an annual tournament among that region’s best professional clubs. The team reached the semifinals of the tournament in 2021.
