Finnish Lapphund, also called the Lapinkoira, is a medium-sized dog developed for herding reindeer and working outdoors. This breed originated in Lapland, a region that covers the far northern parts of Norway, Sweden, and Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. Lapland has no definite boundary to the south, but it ends approximately at the Arctic Circle.
The Finnish Lapphund has a long, beautiful coat, which may be a combination of multiple colors. It stands from 16 to 21 inches (41 to 53 centimeters) tall at the shoulder and weighs from 33 to 53 pounds (15 to 24 kilograms). Finnish Lapphunds are friendly, energetic, and eager to work.
