Beauceron

Beauceron << BOO sehr ohn >> is a large herding dog breed. It originated in the plains region of La Beauce in France. The Beauceron is most commonly used for herding sheep and cattle.

The Beauceron measures from 24 to 27 1/2 inches (61 to 70 centimeters) tall at the shoulder. It weighs 70 to 110 pounds (32 to 50 kilograms). The Beauceron has dark brown eyes. Its coat may be black with tan markings. The coat may also be harlequin, black and tan with a pattern of blue-gray patches distributed evenly over the body.

Beaucerons are also used as military dogs and police dogs. They are alert, confident, and energetic.
