Nashville SC is a professional soccer team in the United States. SC stands for soccer club. Nashville competes in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top soccer league in the United States and Canada. The team plays its home games at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
Nashville was awarded an MLS expansion team in December 2017, and the team was named Nashville Soccer Club in February 2019. Nashville SC played its first MLS season in 2020. The team made the MLS Cup Playoffs that season.
Nashville has had several soccer teams that played at the professional or semiprofessional level. The Nashville Diamonds played in a late version of the American Soccer League in 1982, and the Nashville Metros played in lower-tier minor leagues from 1989 to 2012. A team called Nashville FC (Football Club) played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a fourth-tier league, from 2013 through 2016. Another NPSL team, Inter Nashville FC, began play in 2017.
