Raonic, Milos << ROW nich, MEE losh >> (1990-…), is a Canadian professional tennis star. In 2016, Raonic reached the number three ranking in men’s singles, the highest world ranking ever achieved by a male Canadian singles player.

Raonic stands 6 feet 5 inches (196 centimeters) tall and is one of the strongest players on the men’s professional tour. He is especially known for his powerful serve and his forehand. In 2016, Raonic reached the finals of the Wimbledon championship, the first Canadian to reach the singles final of a Grand Slam tournament. Raonic lost to Andy Murray of the United Kingdom. The Grand Slam consists of the Australian Open , the French Open , Wimbledon , and the US Open .

Raonic was born on Dec. 27, 1990, in Titograd, Yugoslavia (now Podgorica, Montenegro). He moved to Canada with his family when he was three years old, settling in Brampton, Ontario. Raonic began playing tennis as a child. Late in 2007, he moved to Montreal to improve his game at Tennis Canada’s newly established National Training Centre. He turned professional in 2008 and played in lower level tournaments for two years. In 2011, Raonic won his first tournament on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour, the international men’s circuit. That year, his fellow ATP players named him Newcomer of the Year.
