Johnson, Dustin (1984-…), is a leading American professional golfer . In 2016, Johnson won the United States Open , his first major championship. The major championships in men’s professional golf consist of the Masters Tournament , the United States Open, the British Open , and the U.S. Professional Golfers’ Association ( PGA ) Championship. Johnson reached the number one ranking in the world in 2017. He won the Masters Tournament in 2020. Johnson was named the PGA Tour Player of the Year in 2016 and 2020.

Dustin Hunter Johnson was born on June 22, 1984, in Columbia, South Carolina. From 2003 to 2007, he attended Coastal Carolina University, starring on the school golf team. In international amateur competition in 2007, he played on the winning U.S. team that defeated the Great Britain and Ireland team for the Walker Cup.

Johnson turned professional in 2007, joining the PGA Tour. He won his first tournament as a professional in 2008. In 2011, Johnson finished in a tie for second place in the British Open, his highest finish in a major tournament until he tied for second place in the U.S. Open in 2015. He also played on the U.S. Ryder Cup team that faced the European team in 2010, 2012, 2016, 2018, and 2021. The Ryder Cup is a competition between U.S. and European golfers that is held every two years. The 2020 Ryder Cup competition was played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
