Los Angeles FC is a professional soccer team in the United States. FC stands for football club. Soccer is called football in much of the world. Also known as LAFC, the team competes in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top soccer league in the United States and Canada. The team plays its home games at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
LAFC played its first MLS season in 2018. The team’s inaugural roster included forwards Diego Rossi of Uruguay, Marco Ureña of Costa Rica, and Carlos Vela of Mexico; and defenders Laurent Ciman of Belgium and Walker Zimmerman of the United States. LAFC won the Supporters’ Shield, as the MLS team with the best regular season record, in 2019 and 2022. In 2022, the team defeated the Philadelphia Union to win its first MLS Cup championship. The next year, LAFC again advanced to the MLS Cup, but lost to the Columbus Crew SC. SC stands for Soccer Club. LAFC is the third MLS team to call Los Angeles home. The LA Galaxy became one of the league’s founding teams in 1996. Club Deportivo Chivas USA also represented Los Angeles from 2005 to 2014.
