Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA) is an organization that promotes libraries and library services in Canada. Members of the federation include provincial and territorial library associations as well as other organizations that advocate for libraries. The CFLA provides educational programs and promotes legislation on behalf of libraries.
The CFLA was established in 2016 as a successor to the Canadian Library Association (CLA). That year, the CLA voted to disband rather than restructure. Unlike the CLA, the CFLA does not allow individual members—only associations can join. However, many of Canada’s provincial and territorial library associations belong to the CFLA. Librarians who belong to one of these associations automatically belong to the federal association.
