Titmus, Ariarne (2000-…), is an Australian swimmer. Titmus competed in the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympic Games. In those games, she won a total of eight medals—four gold, three silver, and one bronze. Titmus won two gold medals at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. The 2020 Summer Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Titmus won the 200-meter freestyle competition in Olympic record time. She also won a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle competition, a silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle, and a bronze medal as a member of the Australian 800-meter freestyle relay team.
At the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, Titmus won four medals. She won gold medals in the 400-meter freestyle event and as a member of the Australian 800-meter freestyle relay team. She won silver medals in the 200-meter freestyle and the 800-meter freestyle.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, Titmus won a silver medal in the 200-meter freestyle. She also won gold medals in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle events, and as a member of the Australian 800-meter relay team. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in England, Titmus won gold medals in the 200-meter, 400-meter, and 800-meter freestyle events, and as a member of the Australian 800-meter relay team.
Titmus has also enjoyed success at the FINA World Aquatic Championships. FINA is the world governing body for the sport of swimming. At the 2019 championships in South Korea, Titmus won two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. At the 2023 championships in Japan, she won two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
Titmus was born on Sept. 7, 2000, in Launceston, Tasmania state, Australia. She began swimming at the age of 7. When she was 14, her family relocated to Brisbane, in the state of Queensland, to further her training. A year later, in 2016, Titmus became a member of the Australian Dolphins national swim team.
