Sutherland, Tui T. (1978-…), a Venezuelan-born American author, created the popular fantasy adventure series “Wings of FireThe series began with the novel Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy (2012). The series centers on 10 tribes of dragons, following their many wars, friendships, and quests. Sutherland also writes under a variety of pen names. For example, she has written books as Tamara Summers and as part of a writing team that produces books under the name Erin Hunter.
Tui Tamara Sutherland was born on July 31, 1978, in Caracas, Venezuela. She then lived in a variety of places, including Paraguay and the Dominican Republic. She attended high school in New Jersey, in the United States. In 1998, Sutherland graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She wrote a number of books for younger readers before having her first young adult novel, This Must Be Love, published in 2004. The book is a modern version of the English playwright William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Sutherland also wrote the apocalyptic fantasy trilogy “Avatars” (2006-2008).
