Addo-Carr, Josh

Addo-Carr, Josh (1995-…), is an Australian rugby player. He plays in the National Rugby League (NRL) as a winger. A winger is a rugby position that runs with the ball. Addo-Carr is known for his incredible speed. In 2019, he became the fastest player ever clocked in a rugby game.

Joshua Addo-Carr was born on July 28, 1995, in Blacktown, New South Wales. Through his parents’ Aboriginal heritage, Addo-Carr is a member of the Wiradjuri and Gunggandji peoples. He grew up in the suburbs around Sydney, New South Wales. He began playing rugby when he was three years old. Addo-Carr started going by the nickname the Foxx in childhood, a name he became known by in professional rugby.

Addo-Carr made his National Rugby League debut in 2016 with the Wests Tigers, an NRL team based around Sydney. He moved to the Melbourne Storm in 2017. He helped the Storm win the NRL premiership that year, scoring two tries (goals) in the Grand Final. He first played for Australia’s national team in 2019. Addo-Carr won the premiership with the Storm again in 2020. He began playing for the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2022.

Addo-Carr has been selected to represent Australia on the Indigenous All Stars team several times. The team is made up of the best Indigenous players in the NRL. He debuted with the team in 2019. In 2022, he was chosen as the team’s captain.
