Bluey is an Australian animated children’s television show. “Bluey” has received critical acclaim for its bright animation and heartwarming stories.
The show features an anthropomorphic family of dogs. Anthropomorphic characters are nonhuman characters that display humanlike traits. The characters include a puppy named Bluey Heeler, her younger sister Bingo, her parents Bandit and Chilli, and other family members and friends. Bluey and her family are Australian cattle dogs, which are also called blue heelers. Other characters on the show represent different dog breeds. The show mostly takes place in and around the Heeler family’s home in a fictional version of Brisbane, Australia. A typical “Bluey” episode features Bluey and Bingo playing elaborate and imaginative games with their parents or friends.
“Bluey” was created by the Australian animator Joe Brumm. Brumm sought to create a show with an Australian setting that celebrated children’s play. He was inspired by the British children’s television series “Peppa Pig” (first aired in 2004) and the imaginative games his own children would develop. “Bluey” debuted in Australia in 2018. Disney secured the rights to distribute the cartoon in other global markets in 2019.
